Shell Vacations-Is great

Shell Vacations compliment by Jrdubos
I have been a owner for six years. I am quite pleased for the most part with the quality of both service and accomodations from Shell. I have stayed in resorts in Canada (Calgary & Vancouver), Arizona, Hawaii, Florida, Anaheim, Las Vegas and Napa. All were a great experience. the only time I've been disappointed using my points is at a affiliate in Virgina just outside of Washington, DC. You definitely can purchase points much cheaper resale however, per Shell they do not allow you to combine those points with ones purchased from them. I even planned most trips within 30 to 60 days. So far I have no complaints, I will travel to Europe and Africa soon if the quality holds true I will continue to be satisfied.

I also am wary of this post. I tried to use SVC when I went to Europe and was disappointed that were only a few places to choose from. Also, these properties belong to RCI not Shell so you can only get in when they are open, whihc so far has been never. I specifically told the saleswoman about my travel habits: primarily out of country; do not stay in any place for more than three days; and do not plan trips more than six months in advance. She assured me repeatedly that Shell has over 70,000 properties world-wide (yeah right), that you can make reservations with as little as 30 days notice (yeah right), and that you don't have to stay for 5-7 days (again, yeah right). Everytime in the past two years that I have tried to make a reservation I have bene told that I need to book 9 months in advance and stay for 5-7 days. So everything that was told to me by Jay, my salesperson in Kauai was a bald-faced lie. To add insult to injury, my "maintenance" fees have gone from $298 to $450 per year in two years. So, poster, if you think SVC is so great, why don't you buy my points? They're for sale.

I agree with AS. This sounds suspicious. I am a shell owner and have been terribly disappointed by the value of the points. Do yourself a favor and stay away from Shell!

I am very suspicious of position comments re: Shell Vacations or Shell Resorts. People from the company--sales people--etc. get on sites like this and make positive comments...but there are just so very many pissed off customers...don't buy with Shell...really, do some reading online. The horror stories are true. Once you pay, it's all about squeezing more money out of you--it's not really about you going on vacation.
